The Evidence-Based Edge for High-Achieving Professionals

What I Offer

I help high-achieving adults break cycles of anxious thinking using tools from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and evidence-based mindfulness. Clients learn how to identify and shift the patterns that keep them stuck—especially when they already understand the tools but are having difficulty applying them consistently in real life.

Who Can Benefit

This coaching may be helpful if you

  • constantly replay conversations in your head.

  • struggle with perfectionism or self-doubt.

  • feel constantly “on.”

  • are a parent or caregiver balancing work and family stress.

  • have decision paralysis.

  • have difficulty sleeping because of overthinking.

What Clients Learn

  • how to interrupt anxious thought patterns  (eg, "What just happened there when you hesitated? How do you respond to stress in these kind of moments?")

  • practical behavioral experiments (eg, "What would it look like to respond differently? How would doing so affect your work and/or relationships?")

  • mindfulness and/or relaxation skills to regulate stress (eg, "How could you manage stress more effectively and build healthier habits in a way that feels aligned for you?")

How the Process Works

Step 1 – Initial consultation
We discuss your goals and whether coaching is the right fit.

Step 2 – A structured program
Weekly sessions focused on tools drawn from CBT,  mindfulness, and relaxation practices.

Step 3 – Real-life application
Between sessions you apply specific exercises and behavioral experiments.

About

My Approach

Hi! My name is Gentry Gibson. I have a background in psychology and education, and my work draws on well-established cognitive and behavioral science research on how people change beliefs, habits, and performance patterns. I'll help you understand how you respond to stress and then how to build new, healthier habits.

Background

I have dual masters degrees in psychology and education from Columbia University, advanced postgraduate training in cognitive behavior therapy at the Beck Institute, and evidence-based mindfulness training at the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation. I'm a certified coach in Leadership Embodiment from the George Washington University Center for Excellence in Public Leadership.

Coaching services are focused on professional and personal development and are not psychotherapy or mental health treatment. If you are seeking therapy or treatment for a mental health condition, please consult a licensed mental health provider in your state.
